Alarming Arrays

Guess what we did boring maths all week…..
Just Joking
We have started an awesome unit on alarming arrays and I’m here to tell you all about them.
So say your number was 40.
Patterns: a pattern is a way to make a number here are patterns that make 40Columns: Columns go up and down eg. 5 columns of 8 =40
Rows: Rows go sideways eg. 8 rows of 5 =40
Addition: this repeative addition it’s not normal addition you add the same number multiple times to get one number eg.10+10+10+10=40
Multiplication: This is another way to work them out eg. 2 down 20 across =2×20=40
Factors: 1,2,4,5,8,10,20,40
Multiples:40,80,120,160,200,240,280,320,36,400,440,480 a multiple of a is in the Multiplication table of the number eg.
Square Numbers: 40 isn’t but 36 is, a square number is a number times by itself eg.6×6=36
Primes:40 isn’t a prime number but 41 is this means 41 is a natural number greater than 1 that has no positive divisors other than 1 and itself.
Composites: 40 is a composite number which is a positive integer that has at least one positive divisor other than one or the number itself.

What is your favourite number, is it a prime or a composite and is it square???
